The current international context is very bad, according to the statements of former presidential advisor Iulian Fota, who thinks that Romania is unprepared for future developments.
He said: "The world is going through a rearrangement. A new European order will be discussed. That doesn't mean that this rearrangement will be good for us, like the one of 1989 was".
Mr. Fota warns that in this context, Romania as a country will face major problems, which are not being discussed: "Romania is confused from an ideological point of view - some favor the West, some want to get closer to Europe, others don't; Romania is a deprofessionalized country, competence is lacking in the economic area as well; the political class is in a deadlock, negativity rules in information. Also, we are a country that lacks entrepreneurial spirit".
According to what Mr. Fota said, polls show that 75% of Romania's residents want to be employees, not entrepreneurs.
As for the competence of employees, the former presidential advisor says: "Aside from the National Bank of Romania, I don't see any economists employed in the public sector anywhere. They work in the private sector. What can you do, as a country, without experts?".
The former presidential advisor stressed the fact that "we have many internal vulnerabilities" and that is precisely why the time has come for concrete actions, and thus, we can't afford to continue with the "theoretical, relaxed approaches".
