Thermo-power plant CET Vest - Bucharest will begin commercial operation this month, after having passed technical tests in September last year, according to Irina Duica, Commercial Director of Electrocentrale - Bucharest (ELCEN). The plant is quite old, but it has been equipped with a new generator set with a global fuel efficiency of 80%, Duica said. The plant has been running in test mode since September, producing both heating and electricity. According to NewsIn, Bucharest"s thermal energy producer and supplier ELCEN will pay over 12.5 million RON (some 3 million EUR) for maintenance over four years, starting from the moment when it begins commercial operation. For this purpose, ELCEN will hold an open tender to award the maintenance contract. Interested bidders are required to submit a participation request by 22 January 2009.
