Accompanying Foreign Minister Paavo Vayrynen, a delegation of 25 Finnish businesspersons were impressed with the improvements in the Romanian business environment and announced interest in investing in telecom, the lumber industry and a number of service industries.
Finnish companies contributed 101 million EUR to the capital of various companies registered in Romania by end-June, thus accounting for 0.06% of the overall foreign capital registered in Romania. Romania"s exports to Finland, as of May 31st, amounted to 19.04 million EUR (0.16% of the total), up by 74.30% y/y. In turn, Romania"s imports amounted to 74.77 million EUR (0.38% of the total), up by 175,44% y/y.
Finland"s Nokia may add a great deal to the total value of Finnish investments in Romania, as the telecom giant has announced plans to spent 60 million EUR on a facility in Cluj. Other leading Finnish investors in Romania include Karelia, Kone, Finnforest and Ruuki Corp.
