McDonald"s Romania reported a 20% increase in turnover for the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period last year, according to communication manager Cristian Savu, quoted by NewsIn.
McDonald"s Romania will start a medium and long-term development process by expanding its existing restaurants and opening new units in other cities. McDonald"s Romania, a branch of McDonald"s Corporation, decides the next locations of new restaurants. Once a new restaurant is open, it can be taken over as franchise by a local partner for a period of over 10 years. Of the 51 McDonald"s restaurants opened in Romania, only three (the ones in Brasov) are operated in a franchise system. McDonald"s Romania ended 2006 with a turnover of 67 million EUR.
McDonald"s is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 30,000 local restaurants serving 52 million people in more than 100 countries each day. In 2005, the company reported revenues of over 20 billion USD and a net profit of 2.6 billion USD.
